Birthday Treat {33Downhill Skincare}

Today, my Mum and I are having a little half day off {well most of the day off if I'm honest}.
Today is my Mum's birthday and we have booked a treat for us both {my birthday is next week so I'm getting in on the act too}.

We have booked in for facials at the beautifully appointed and calming haven, 33Dowanhill in Glasgow.

Currently, I am sitting on a very comfy armchair, waiting for my appointment. Mum is in first {birthday girl after all} and my appointment is next. This is the most comfy, relaxing place I have been to in ages. Nestled one street behind the bustling Byers Road, I feel like I am in a relaxing retreat far away from reality.

I have answered oodles of email and have been spurred to write a wee blog! - this place is not only calming, its fuelling my creativity! Maybe I should revisit my first statement about having the day off, as I have just realised I am actually working without knowing it!

Sitting here, the decor around me is beautiful. My rather chaotic, lived in office at home is praying on my mind sitting here and I feel a revamp is on the cards. A trip to Farrow and Ball to source a chalky grey paint is required and I wish I could afford to order a armchair like this one, as I am really comfy sitting here by the window!

I realise it is very odd to 'blog' about something before you have had it/experienced it but sitting here I get a really good vibe about my imminent facial and I am excited. Last year I attended Emma Case's Welcome Home Workshop where Emma described capturing 'the feels in life' {it was a photography based course} and since that workshop, I really notice and actively seek the 'feels' in everything I do and this place 'feels' like its good for me and I hope it is... I'll let you know how I get on!

Stay Dry and Jolly... {FREE CALLIGRAPHY PRINTABLE}

We are delighted to offer our readers and umbrella hire clients a
FREE CALLIGRAPHY DOWNLOAD of our A4 sign
'Stay Dry and Jolly, help yourself and Grab a Brolly'
designed and created by Modern Calligrapher, Laura Elizabeth Partick.

The story behind the collaboration...

When clients hire umbrellas, we often have a chat on the phone or an email natter regarding 'what colour looks best?' {we are quite regularly sent fabric samples!} 'what we would recommend for a certain type of wedding?' and most recently, do the umbrellas come with any signage to have next to the stand of brollies?... and sadly I had to say 'well no but I do have'... and 9 times out of 10, a blackboard or two from my own collection would be carefully packaged and sent to the wedding along with the brollies! This got me thinking and I wanted to offer our clients something better!

In Nov 2015, I was very lucky to find the lovely Laura Elizabeth Patrick on Instagram and work with her on a RMW featured Inspiration Wedding Shoot at our brolly studio. Her calligraphy pieces, suited the shoot beautifully and looked wonderful paired with our umbrellas.
This sparked my creative side and I asked Laura if she would like to collaborate and provide an elegant, simple calligraphy sign for clients to print off at home and use at their wedding!

We wanted a light hearted message and Laura came up with the phrase 'Stay Dry and Jolly, help yourself and Grab a Brolly' the perfect message for clients to display next to their hired umbrellas!

We hope you like the sign and can use it on your big day! ...please send us a picture if you do!

A few ideas of how to display...

The sign looks great printed onto crisp white paper and framed in a gold or silver frame! It also looks fab, printed onto brown craft paper {I buy mine from paperchase!} and clipped onto a natural coloured clipboard! You can then hang or lean the sign against the umbrella stand, simple!

Would you like some coordinating calligraphy items?

If you would like to order calligraphy tags {like the ones in the RMW shoot} or matching items please get in touch with Laura directly, she would be delighted to assist.
Laura also teaches calligraphy classes in Glasgow, if you would like to attend and learn this wonderful skill for yourself! I believe her next class is being held in the Spring and is open for booking now!
